Waste transportation from Europe to Bulgaria

Next Logistic specializes in the transportation of various types of cargo across Europe, and part of our services includes waste transportation.

As you may know, the collection, storage, and transportation of this type of secondary raw material is carried out in bales, which are usually side-loaded into the truck trailer using forklifts. The bales are evenly distributed in the vehicle to avoid axle overload and ensure smooth transportation.

  • Load: 23.5 tons
  • Total weight: 38.5 tons
  • License: For transporting this type of cargo
  • Vehicle marking: “A” plate
  • Document: Approval from RIEW (Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water)
  • Insurance: Valid insurance and permit

When transporting this type of cargo, it is essential to be aware of all requirements and regulations. Here is what you need to know and follow:

The maximum load must not exceed 23.5 tons, with prior notice to your consignor (client or partner) to ensure weight compliance. This guarantees that you are fully prepared for strict checks and weigh-ins at European borders.

Exceeding this weight during border inspections results in heavy fines.

The total weight of the vehicle (cargo + vehicle) must not exceed 38.5 tons when weighed.

For waste transportation, the carrier must have a valid license, insurance, and a permit. In addition, approval from the authorities of the transit countries is mandatory, as the cargo travels under notification.

Vehicles must carry an “A” plate (entirely the carrier’s responsibility). Without it, waste transportation is not allowed.

In Bulgaria, carriers must have approval from RIEW for waste transportation, which is mandatory.

Typical route across Europe when loading from Germany:
Czech Republic → Slovakia → Hungary → Romania → Bulgaria (less frequently via Austria as a transit country).

Some types of waste, such as waste code 19 12 01 (paper and cardboard), do not require notification and can be transported with Annex 7 and an “A” plate. Annex 7 is issued by us, specifying the route (transit countries).

The volume we import from Europe varies between 3,000 and 8,000 tons per month. Each month, our partners purchase over 1,000 tons of paper, which they process and supply to their clients.

Next Logistic can assist you with the transportation of this type of cargo from Europe to Bulgaria. To arrange this, please send us your inquiry via email.
