TRANSPORT TO ITALY

Italy has been a member of the EU since 1958. This underpins its strong economic relations with the other member states of the Union. Transport in the country is well developed. Italy has a modern and extensive infrastructure and motorway network.

A favorable condition for trade between Bulgaria and Italy is the country’s geographical location and its access to the sea. This factor facilitates the implementation of combined transport – road and sea.

This helps reduce transport costs and transit time, as part of the trucks are loaded onto ships, which drastically shortens delivery times to between 3 and 4 days, depending on which part of Italy is the destination.

One of the ports on the northern coast of Italy is Ancona. The ferry terminal is located at the Santa Maria port. From Ancona, there are regular ferry connections between Italy and Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, Greece, and Turkey.

Another popular port used for combined transport to Italy is Brindisi.
