Transport profiles
TYPES
This is one of the specialized types of cargo that requires full organization – starting from the loading process, securing the cargo, planning the most favorable route, and, last but not least, precise unloading.
The types of profiles can be PVC and aluminum.
A characteristic of aluminum profiles is their fragility and brittleness. For this reason, they are loaded in metal crates. Depending on the type of aluminum profile, their number varies between 30–40 bundles.
PVC profiles, on the other hand, are placed in so-called wing crates, usually between 15–20 bundles, with the exact number determined by their geometry and division.
LOADING
Main profiles: hardware, handles, strikes, accessories, joints, etc.
Auxiliary profiles: extensions, connection profiles, decorative profiles, and PPD.
All other harder elements such as metal axles, reinforcements, metal bars, etc. are loaded separately in bundles so as not to damage the profiles during transport.
In a standard semi-trailer, an average of 36 bundles can be loaded – 18 in the front and 18 in the rear. Loading and unloading is usually carried out simultaneously from both sides with forklifts. In some cases, unloading may also be performed from above using a crane.
The metal crates in which the profiles are placed come in two sizes: 6.0 m and 6.5 m, depending on the material. As with bundles, the crates are loaded evenly across the entire trailer area from both sides using a forklift.
SECURITY
Securing the cargo is carried out under the watchful eye of the truck driver. If, during loading, the driver notices any irregularities on the part of the forklift operator, he is obliged to signal immediately in order to prevent damage during transport.
Once the trailer is loaded, the process of tightening the straps begins carefully. The mandatory number of straps is between 12 and 15.
TRANSPORTATION
The transport of profiles is carried out exclusively on main roads and at an appropriate speed. Upon arrival at the unloading address, the driver is obliged to park the vehicle in a safe location, carefully remove the straps, and then begin the unloading process in the easiest possible way, ensuring that the risk of damage to the profiles is prevented.
