Instructions for parking lots in Slovenia
IMPORTANT!!! – Legislative Changes in Slovenia – Rest Requirements on the Territory of the Country
Dear Colleagues,
In connection with the adopted amendments to the Roads Act of the Republic of Slovenia, and in particular Article 5 (6), we inform you that, effective April 1, 2019, drivers engaged in international transport of goods through Slovenia must comply with the following rules during their rest periods:
- Every driver taking their daily or weekly rest on board the vehicle in Slovenia must place visible information on the front windshield of the truck indicating the start of the rest period by specifying the date and time.
Failure to provide such information will result in penalties by the control authorities. The fines are set at EUR 1,000 for drivers who do not comply with the requirements, and EUR 4,000 for the owners of transport companies that allowed the violation.
The legislation allows for the possibility to pay 50% of the imposed fine, provided that the offenders (drivers and owners of transport companies) acknowledge the violation and sign a document stating that they accept the imposed penalty and declare in writing that they will not appeal in court.
The deadline for paying the reduced fine is 8 days from the date of issue of the acts/penal decrees. Until the due amounts are paid, the vehicle will be taken out of service.
Slovenian law also sets a maximum rest period in the country of up to 90 hours.
